I need your help on something. The person who lives in the
apartment above us smokes…..and that icky smell leaks through the air vents
into our closet. Yeah. Gross. I find myself spraying my closet down with smell
goods about 20 times a day. It wouldn’t be so bad if it were in the living
room, but the closet is small, so the smell has no where to go and it is strong and it gets on our
clothes. It’s giving me headaches, and it makes my eyes burn. I try very hard
not to complain about this, because I really do LOVE our place, and I wouldn’t give
it up, but, that being said, does anyone know of a more efficient way on how to
get rid of, or keep on top of smoke smell? I spray constantly to keep it off
our clothes, but I have more things to do than spray all day. If you know of a
way PLEASE let me know! I will be forever in your debt! Thanks!

If I were you I would mention something to the landlord. A lot of apartments don't allow smoking inside because it is so hard to clean up....the person above might be breaking a rule. And even if they are not they are causing you health problems that is not fair. I would let the landlord know in a respectful way that it is really bothering you. He might have ideas, or maybe can move you when another apartment opens up. That is what I would do...tell the landlord. You have a legal right to live in a livable place. Ask mom too...being an apartment manager I bet she really has some good insights.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have thought about that. He isnt breaking the rules. I really like our location, I'm afraid if we move then it will be an upstairs apartment, that will just be a pain to move all our thing up there. It's really the only complaint I have about the place. We baught a fan to down out the noise of our neighbor, so that doesnt really bother us anymore... I think the guy smokes by an air vent to keep it from making his place smell so bad, but it's making our place smell.
