Spring = Gardening

I know, it seems like every post I write is a catch up post. It's just that I feel like my life is so uninteresting, there really isn't anything to right about. Unless you want to hear about my work days, the books I read, or my extreme nerdy thoughts I think of during the day.

But does it feel like to anyone else that this year is going by WAY too fast? I still feel like it's October of 2013. But it's March. Middle of March.

This Spring I am going to do my garden different. Also, I am very excited to announce, I am starting an herb garden. Last year, I planted my seeds in the ground, and too close, and well, it was sloppy, and ugly. This year, I want to separate the plants by raised garden beds. This should make it easier to get to each plant. Also, it will be more organized. I decide what do to with my herb garden though. I have decided to have two separate herb gardens. One for inside. Easy access. One for outside, those will grow bigger, and I can dry those. I already have dill, basil, and sage growing. I planted lavender, but I don't know how well those do from seeds. I am growing broccoli, lettuce, and spinach, which I am super excited about.

I'm also going to do my flower bed in the front yard in a slightly raised flower bed. I'm hoping this will help with the flooding issue we seem to have every time it rains. I am also planting Moon Flowers to go along the side of our house. I have never planted these before, and I'm hoping they go well. I think I will plant Lavender around my flower garden, I guess they are supposed to help with bugs.

Also, many of you know that we now have chickens. We got them for bug control, and eggs. Don't ask me what kind of chickens they are, cause I can not for the life of me remember their name for longer then a few minutes. Cory is working on a coop for them, and then they will roam free-ish through out the yard, we still need a fence. Now we need a yard fence, and garden fence and a chicken fence. Ugh, the list gets longer.

I am going to try blueberries again this year. This time, I will not let those pesky little rabbits get to them. I am very excited. I'm just waiting for the plants to start growing, it's taking forever!

Other news, Daniel comes home on the 9th of April. I am so stoked! I've missed that kid like crazy, and hopefully I will be able to come up and meet him at the air port. If not, I think I will convince him to come and visit me. (I don't care what you have to say about it, mom. He's coming.) :)

Well, I guess that's it. Does anyone have any tips for herb gardens, or gardens in general? I would love to hear your input. Stay tuned and remember, God loves and knows you. Have a great day!
